On 20 March 2026, the AEA/ACOAG – Águeda Business Association was officially recognised as a Chamber of Commerce and Industry, pursuant to Ministerial Order No. 122/2026/1.

This recognition strengthens the Association’s role in supporting businesses and grants it the legal authority to issue Certificates of Origin, an essential service for companies engaged in export activities.

What is a Certificate of Origin?

A Certificate of Origin is a document used in international trade that officially certifies the origin of exported products. It is frequently required by customers, customs authorities and regulatory bodies in various markets.

Benefits of a Certificate of Origin

The issuance of a Certificate of Origin provides several benefits to exporting companies:

  • It certifies the origin of exported products;
  • It strengthens the credibility and value of products in international markets;
  • It facilitates the correct application of the trade measures and agreements in force;
  • It speeds up the customs clearance process;
  • It reduces waiting times and administrative constraints;
  • It contributes to greater efficiency and productivity in export operations.

How can you obtain a Certificate of Origin?

The process is simple, quick and accessible:

1. Complete the application form provided by AEA/ACOAG;

2. Attach the required documentation:

  • Export invoice;
  • Transport document;
  • Packing list;
  • Any other documentation considered necessary.

3. Receive the Certificate of Origin, choosing one of the following options:

  • Collection in person at the AEA/ACOAG headquarters;
  • Delivery by email;
  • Delivery by post (CTT).

Issuance timeframe

Once all the required documentation has been received and payment has been successfully processed, the Certificates of Origin will be issued within a maximum of 24 hours.

Delivery at no additional cost

For the convenience of businesses, the Certificates of Origin may be sent by CTT at no additional cost.
